OTHER 4-LEGGED CRITTERS

All the hyenas we saw were running away from us .. except this one who we caught off-guard. As soon as he saw us, he turned and ran so these are the best I could do.

We saw a lot of warthogs too - loners and family groups - but they didn't want to stick around near us either. They all scattered but I managed to get a couple of pictures anyway.

We saw some huge crocodiles and some very small ones but they didn't stay sunning themselves very long when they saw us coming.

Driving home in the evenings, our guide spotlighted the sides of the road looking for 'eyes' and we found several chameleons. Eventually I managed to spot them when the light hit them but you can see how well camouflaged they really are.

We found this lovely bushy-tailed creature one night on the way back to camp - it's a white-tailed mongoose.

We saw a lot of these shy Dwarf Mongooses - these were spying on a male lion who had walked near their home and laid down to relax. They kept their eyes on him and on us.

There were many lizard-types of varying sizes and colors - here are a few of them. The large one is a monitor lizard and the small one with a blue tail is an Ogama lizard.
