OUR GUIDES

Our first stop was at Vumbura (pronounced Vumbra) Plains on the Okavango Delta in Botswana and ST was our guide for the duration. He was great fun - enjoyed our jokes (and there were lots) - was very knowledgeable about the area, animals, birds, etc. and we were really sorry to leave.

Our second stop was at Duma Tau camp, also in the Okavango Delta - here we had Lazi for our guide. His name was Lazarus but that was too much of a mouthful. We really enjoyed him - one day he spotted a set of horns on the ground and showed them off to us.

Our next stop was at Toka Leya in Zambia but we were there not to safari but to visit Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side, the street craft market there, and Simonga (native) Village.

Our final stop was at Rattrays Camp, Mala Mala in South Africa - and Gordon was the lucky guide chosen to spend his waking hours with we four! We were there for 5 days and therefore saw more animals than at our other camps. He was such a nice young man, we were all so sad to leave him - but we may have talked him into coming to California next summer.

  1. Didn't we get the best guides? All the guys were so sweet - and I'd ask for them again in a heartbeat! Won't it be neat if Gordon shows up next year? I've already told him I'll try to be there too - and bring Jasmin!
